Learning Objectives

• Practice ethical decision-making.
• Make responsible choices regardless of observation.
• Discuss real-life scenarios and what the right choice would be.

Materials Needed

• Scenario A (see the Download button below).
• Scenario B (see the Download button below).

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Introduce character education (3 minutes). Say: “Character education cultivates ethical decision-making, emphasizing responsible choices regardless of observation.”
2. Review Scenario A (7 minutes). Say: “Let’s look at Scenario A together. What is happening here, and what would the responsible choice be?”
3. Review Scenario B (7 minutes). Say: “Now let’s look at Scenario B. What is happening here, and what would the responsible choice be?”
4. Discuss as a class (3 minutes). Say: “The attached PDFs present real-life scenarios for review and subsequent class discussion. What did these scenarios teach us about doing the right thing?”

Discussion Questions

• What makes a choice a responsible choice?
• Why should we do the right thing even when no one is watching?
• Which scenario was hardest to decide, and why?

Assessment

Students can explain, in the class discussion, what the responsible choice is in each scenario and why.
