Respect
Activity Type: Questionnaire and Class Discussion
Duration: About 15 minutes
Class Size: Whole class
Learning Objectives
- Think about what respect looks like in everyday actions.
- Share and compare their own answers with classmates.
- Talk about how respectful choices help everyone feel safe and included.
Materials Needed
- The respect questionnaire (see the Download button below), one copy for each student.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Hand out the questionnaire (2 minutes). Say: Today we are going to think about respect. Each of you will fill out this questionnaire on your own.
- Fill it out (5 minutes). Say: For each statement, circle T for True or F for False. There are no trick answers. Just choose what you honestly think.
- Discuss the answers (8 minutes). Say: Now let’s talk about your answers together. What did you choose, and why? Listen to how your classmates see it, too.
Discussion Questions
- Which answers did most of us agree on, and which ones did we see differently?
- What does a respectful choice look like in our classroom?
- What is one respectful thing you can do tomorrow?
Assessment
Students complete the questionnaire and can explain, in the class discussion, at least one way to show respect to others.
